Comprehensive Summer Internship

Rossen Landscape

Sterling, VA

  • Created a comprehensive system to aid in annual planning and installation which included site maps, site conditions, location descriptions and as-built plant counts for each residence that received annual plantings.

  • Greatly expanded my knowledge of construction processes including the installation of pools, large retaining walls, stone steps and concrete slabs.

  • Shadowed and aided the design team with site visits, photoshoots, and day-to-day work.

  • Assisted with Client Relations Manager duties which included performing comprehensive landscape checks and ensuring client’s satisfaction. Helped with watering and upkeep of nursery and maintenance lot.

Summer 2023

  • Shadowed head landscape designer at site visits and in office.

  • Worked with landscape construction crews 3 days/week. Drove truck & trailer when needed.

Wholesale Intern 

Mountain Bounty Farm

Nevada City, CA

  • Worked with wholesale director to sell additional produce to local restaurants and meet grocery store commitments. Delivered produce to restaurants and retail outlets.

  • Assisted with seed and plant propagation, transplanting, weeding, irrigation, harvest, washing and packing CSA boxes.

  • Gained a fuller understanding of the CSA model and the back-end work required to be successful in that field.

2019 - 2021

Property Manager & Farm Hand

Montgomery Farm

Fremont, OH

  • Oversaw upkeep of 150 acre farm property including barns, hedgerows and woodlot. Helped manage, clean and maintain rental properties and grounds.

  • Managed family orchard, comprising approximately 90 trees. Responsibilities included monitoring tree health, pruning, harvesting and fruit distribution.

  • Expanded garden size by 137%, built permanent raised beds, and planted over 50 different varieties of organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Responsible for harvest and food preservation. 

  • Started on-farm compost, eliminating over 100 pounds of food waste and counting.

  • Assisted in vehicle and farm tool maintenance.

  • Assumed multiple concurrent responsibilities, pivoted on short notice, and self-directed many projects.
